Litecoin’s Charlie Lee explains Github inactivity; promises more focus on development side

It has been a monumental year for Litecoin; the silver coin improved its valuation by almost 190 percent since January and the virtual asset also completed its 2nd Litecoin halving last week. However, Litecoin was under the gun over the past few weeks after it was observed that the digital asset recorded almost zero activity on Github in 2019. Many community members raised the questions of the silver coin’s shortcoming on the tech front.

Litecoin’s Charlie Lee, took the matter into his hands and took to Twitter explaining the inactivity. Lee explained that Litecoin’s code was extremely similar to Bitcoin’s and the “handful of core developers” at Litecoin were mostly accommodating the changes made by Bitcoin, on their network.

He explained that Litecoin would usually release an update, a few months after Bitcoin does, and the code would be identical. Lee added that Litecoin did release an update Core 0.17.1 in May early this year but the code was written in 2018 itself by Bitcoin.

Hence, Lee concluded that because most of the work done by the Litecoin core developers in 2019 did not get recorded on Github as most of commits were already completed in 2018; records on github could lead one to believe that LTC developers had taken the year off in 2019, which was untrue.

However, Lee also agreed that for the past few months, his focus was based more around “adoption and awareness” than development on the technical side.

I am a believer of the HODL philosophy because we are still in the nascent stage of blockchain technology. Although we are in a bear market now, my outlook on the adoption and growth of blockchain solutions remains unchanged. Blockchain transactions has been growing exponentially and demand for cryptocurrency like Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], Ripple [XRP], Litecoin [LTC] and other Altcoins will only continue to grow exponentially in the next five to ten years.
